The claim for discussion is: What is real, independent of language?
A central element has been a critique of the nature of human perception, particularly vision. When we perceive the world around us, what is the actual object of our awareness? Is it things that physically exist, or is it something in our mind, and perhaps only in our mind?

Dr David Van Mill, a lecturer at UWA in political sciences and international relations will give us an introduction to the topic.
Dr Van Mill has published two books, Deliberation, Social Choice and Absolutist Democracy, London, Routledge (2006) and Liberty, Rationality, and Agency in Hobbes’s Leviathan, United States of America, State University of New York Press (2001).

Dr Mill share his perspective on Democracy and its possible alternatives with us (after which, we can argue with him!)

This year’s theme, Enhancing Responsibility will be explored at the RMIT University in Melbourne, June 27-29, 2007.

The conference welcomes scholars, researchers and practitioners from various disciplines and professions for discussion of interests and issues in applied and professional ethics.
